Hi everyone! My name is Cristina, and I’m a 15 year old from Stouffville. I’m this year’s MTSO, and so far it has been both amazing and crazy! I’m very excited to be doing this, and I look forward to meeting new people and trying new things during my reign.
To start off, a little about me… I was born in Romania and moved here right before my 4th birthday, along with my parents and older sister. Speaking of her, she’s my absolute best friend even though she’s over six years older. I consider her to be both my role model and partner in crime.
I’m a complete and total arts kid, with vocals being my favorite, writing a close second and musical theatre the third. Find me a stage and I will do something on it. But see, even though I don’t mind being on stage, I’m often told I don’t seem like the typical pageant girl, and that’s because I’m not. I’ve never participated in a pageant before, so to get the second highest spot in my first pageant was really shocking actually.
I don’t plan on letting that stop me though. I’m a very determined person, and I love trying new things and being given a challenge. Currently, my biggest challenge is trying to manage everything I do and should be doing in the next three months into the next couple of days.
Why you ask? Because I will be heading to France for a three month exchange starting on February 14 (awkwardly leaving for Paris on Valentine’s Day of all days… Sorry hun!). During this time I’ll still be updating my blog and social media with the adventures of my life, so be sure to follow all my accounts for that! As soon as I’m back in town the real work will begin: fundraising, sponsors, appearances, all that fun stuff!
Now, what else is there to know about me? I’m a part of a lot of clubs at my school, and I’m friends with a lot of different people. My friends are anywhere from grade 9-12 (excluding my sister) and they’re some of my favorite people in the world. My Friday nights usually consist of playing board games, watching movies, and eating way more candy than I should ever have at one time.
Other than the fact that I’m now a “pageant princess” (shout out to my friends for always calling me that) and that I casually go to France for three months (just kidding, it took months of planning), I’m a pretty normal teenager. I go to school and don’t like homework (still do it though), I hang out with my friends and family, and I listen to a lot of music. Speaking of which, anyone else love Sleeping with Sirens or anything similar? You’re now my new best friend!! 😉
But really, if you ever see me at an appearance or even just in public, you should totally come on over and say hi. If I’m wearing my crown, go ahead and ask to try it (like a lot of people have already done!) because I will almost always let you. After all, crowns are a lot of fun, and everybody wants to feel like a princess! Although I am warning you, they are kind of heavy…
Anyways, that’s all for now. Check back in a couple of days when I’ll be in Paris and probably dead tired!
